Tornado warning issued for parts of Twin Cities: live updates

(FOX 9) - We are tracking storms developing in western Minnesota, as parts of the Twin Cities metro and areas to the west are under an enhanced risk of severe weather on Sunday. 6:50 p.m. - Tornado warning issued for parts of Twin Cities A tornado warning has been issued for Hennepin, Sherburne and Wright Counties until 7:15 p.m. 6:40 p.m. - Severe thunderstorm warning in Carver, McLeod, Meeker and Wright A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Carver, McLeoud, Meeker and Wright Counties until 7 p.m. 6:20 p.m. - Tornado warning for Meeker, Stearns Counties A tornado warning has been issued for Meeker and Stearns Counties until 6:45 p.m. 6:00 p.m. - Tornado warning in Kandiyohi, Meeker Counties A tornado warning has been issued for Kandiyohi and Meeker Counties until 6:30 p.m. 5:30 p.m. - Severe thunderstorm watch expands The severe storm watch expanded, now including parts of northern Minnesota, including the Arrowhead region. 5 p.m. - Severe thunderstorm watch issued The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of southern and central Minnesota as we track storms developing to the west of the Twin Cities. The alert stretches from western South Dakota east to the Twin Cities metro and north to Alexandria and St. Cloud. The watch is in effect until midnight. Tracking storms What to expect Isolated strong storms will develop in western Minnesota this afternoon into the evening. These isolated storms bring the potential for damaging winds and large hail. The greatest threat from the widespread strong storms will be after 9 p.m. Sunday night into Monday morning as storms develop in northwest Minnesota and track southeast over the Twin Cities overnight. This line of overnight storms will have the possibility of strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.
